Sadly, thanks to the introduction of Gold Sellers and Bots, the economy in World of Warcraft, like so many MMORPGs , is quite difficult to overcome.
There are many methods to acquiring gold and the most efficient one seems to be the Auction House. Sure you can reap tons of cash with the AH, but much like in real life, you have to watch the trends. Stacks of cotton, silk, and wool are usually in demand but there are times when the market is flooded and sales come to a halt.
Therefore, it’s always a good practice to loot corpses and accumulate drops while out on quests. This is a standard practice that, while not as good as the AH, will net you a few gold here and there while on your travels.
The key to really utilizing the AH, is craft working. Your trade skills along with every other player keep the economy going. A miner for instance can mine and forge iron and such which is a necessary staple for the engineer. The engineer on the other hand crafts explosives and guns that a hunter may find attractive.
Look at your own skill sets and determine what you can make that other players will want. Can you smith swords and other melee weapons? Warriors like those sorts of things. Don’t be discouraged by the constant talk of epic weapons and armor. Yes, many hit the instances to get their gear, but they need equipment until that happens and there are always young players looking for gear. At early levels making tons of gold is an unrealistic goal. It will take time.
But at later levels, your best bet is to hit the instances for drops that sell well in the AH. Just remember to only grab items that Bind on Equip. If it’s on Pickup, then it’s yours to keep or throw away, nothing else.
Hope this helps. And good luck out there!
Im a level 80 rogue too! I got my gold by eternal fires at Borean Tundra, it’s really good cash! But like IDK i havent played in a few months, been on xbox recently, are eternal fires still good cash?
Try using the auction house, try and find out what the average price for things is take a week to study what the average prices are then find out what you can make a profit off of. buy things that people are seeling cheap. like if you know the average price is 100g and there selling it for 75g buy it and theres a 25g profit right there. Takes patience but thats how i used ot make money.
