Regardless of server or faction, what are the top money making items on the auction house? Not counting weapons and armor. And that the average player can actually get.
In no particular order (just what I got)
10 raptor eggs = 10 gp
10 silver ore = 20 gp
Just stuff like that
Hands down right now:
herbs = inscription
ore = prospecting
high end fish BC or Wotlk = lazy way to earn cooking points
The beauty of this is all 3 of those you could farm and bring in tons of it and make a killing. The high end herbs and ore are ridiculous. however bars are still reasonable. i made my airplane and epic engine goggles for under 50g each. i walk around with 500g all the time.
p.s. now to save for that epic flyer
please note cloth and Bars do not sell over all the realms for nearly the profit of actual ore and herbs and fish. i have over 50 character over 20 realms and i log in weekly to them all to manipulate my mail. Trust me on this one.

Deviate fish. 20=20g there easy to find to there in the barrens and your fishing skill doesn’t have to be high either which is the good thing! fish required is like 65-75 i think if i remeber right
If you want tplay the Auction House and make money get the addon Auctioneer. It scans the auction house. When people post items that should be sold for alot more money it will tell you to buy it and then you can sell it back for more gold.

well depending on whatever level you are, farming cloth (silk, netherweave, mageweave, etc.) is always profitable.. i hate farming cloth, and i usually have some money so due to my laziness, i always buy it off the AH.. it just depends..
basically anything that is useful for lazy players to buy, some quest items are able to be farmed, same with some reputation items.. lol

Anything pertaining to training the professions.
ie: ores and cloth are general the biggest money makers, and anything concerning leather working, herbalism.
People will buy 20 mithril bars for almost 35 gold on MoonGuard, and about 32 on Rivendare.
The lvl 80 trying to make his mining/blacksmithing out will buy 20 ores REAL quick to smelt and then get points for the smelting then using on blacksmithing.
Each realm has it’s own "economy" pretty much tho, people jack the prices, and others undercut.
But anything to help level their professions will get you BIG gold REAL quick.
And just using auctioneer will help a little as well. (pre-WotLK)
